In order to deepen the learning and education of the "history of the Party, the history of New China, the history of reform and opening up, the history of socialist development, and the history of the development of the Chinese nation," cultivate patriotic feelings, and enhance historical literacy, the history teaching and research group of the Senior High School Department of our school, relying on the National Day holiday, organized the 10th students to carry out a handwritten newspaper competition themed on the "history of the Party, the history of New China, the history of reform and opening up, the history of socialist development, and the history of the development of the Chinese nation", focusing on the history of the Party, the history of New China, the history of reform and opening up, the history of socialist development, and the history of the development of the Chinese nation, and guiding students to use paper and pen as a medium, to integrate historical learning into pictures and text, and make history education visual and concrete.
To be concrete, this handwritten newspaper competition was planned by the history teaching and research group, actively mobilized in each class of Grade 10, organizing students to consult historical materials and sort out historical contexts, encouraging students to combine what they have learned and use pictures and texts to present major events, figures of the times and development achievements in the Five Histories, integrating history learning into creative practice.
What's more, after returning to school, each class collected students' hand-written newspaper works and conducted the initial screening within the class. Also, they submitted the works to the history teachers for unified review. Accordingly, the history teachers formed a review panel and gave comprehensive scores based on aspects such as theme relevance, historical evidence accuracy, layout design, and text writing, who adhered to the principles of fairness and justice, and select first, second, and third prize works.
Furthermore, not only are the outstanding works presented in this competition the artistic achievements of the students, but also a vivid manifestation of their study of the "history of the Party, the history of New China, the history of reform and opening up, the history of socialist development, and the history of the development of the Chinese nation," in addition to their reflection on the original aspirations. In the works, the students neatly arranged the historical context with their words, capturing the classic moments with vivid pictures, and fully integrating their reverence for history, love for the motherland, and responsibility for youth onto the paper.
In summary, in this handwritten newspaper competition, we aim to nourish moral education through aesthetic education, and convey spirit through writing. In the meantime, we want to bring historical education out of textbooks and integrate it into daily life. In the future, the Senior High School Department will continue to innovate the forms of moral education and historical education, carrying out diverse campus-themed subject activities. More remarkably, we will guide students to remember history and not waste their youth. We will draw strength for progress from looking back at history and take on the mission of the times in the pursuit of dreams during our youth.
